There hasn't been much artwork lately, but people have commented - "That's quite understandable". Although I do have a mini solo exhibition on at the moment for the next 3 months, until July 18th. It is at the Cornerhouse Dentist Practice in King Square, Bridgwater. They very kindly allowed me space in their reception, waiting room and up the stairs. It is very much like a retrospective of my work. A little from each year since graduating.

I do mean to do more work, I do intend to find some time to paint and create,

I just don't know when.

Vintage Buses

Another adventure on a Sunday.

This time we went on a vintage bus rally. Little bus trips took us to a cider museum and Hestercombe gardens. The oldest bus we traveled in was a 1945 double Decker bus. We sat up stairs on long bench seats.

It was a bank holiday Sunday. The English weather as usual for a bank holiday was cold and damp, which we suspected put many people off of coming out to play. At times we were the only ones on the bus. It was a jolly good time. These buses have been lovingly restored and looked after. They each have a character of their own. Not like the coaches and buses of today, which all seem the same and are pulled to bits and graffiti by vandals.

These vintage buses have plenty of history within them, we all love to indulge in a bit of nostalgia. As we travelled along, we noticed that we attracted smiles and waves from people. Just as the steam train collects smiles and waves as it passes by.

A jolly good time was had by all.

Studies for the Enclosed/Insular theme

Two sketches for the theme of Enclosed/Insular. These two have a more detailed look about them than the last, who seemed more illustrative.

This piece is part of a set of small pen drawings around the theme of Enclosed or perhaps Insular. Each has a particular feeling. I would like to add them to the Chandos exhibition but feel that it would not suit. It would definitely not sell as the subject is too dark, I think. Just because I have enjoyed investigating the theme, doesn't mean that anyone else would enjoy the piece.?

The vintage buses at Minehead 2009. A sketch with pen and wash. I intend to put it into the Chandos Annual exhibition. Perhaps as a folio piece, not framed.

I hope someone somewhere would like to buy it.

The garage was definitely cold but not really that old. (As mentioned on Steve Wright in the Afternoon Weds 27th Jan 2.25pm). I have cause to celebrate, I have finished the backdrop! And in that celebration I bought myself a 99p piece of music to listen to on my ipod. The piece of music represents the time I spent listening to the radio whilst painting the 'Theatre" backdrop during those cold cold weeks. Here you see the finished artical outside in the sunshine, being held up by mum and dad.

It is five metres wide and took many many hours to paint through the Winter.
